Harold Straker

Harold Straker was Dixie’s right hand man for many years at Golden Gem.  I did not know Harold all that well and never really interacted with him on citrus field projects.  I would have a few words with him whenever I visited the GGG production office.  He was a loyal participant of our Mature Mentors luncheons.  He was an institution at the Mason Jar restaurant where you could find him most days for lunch and many mornings for breakfast.  I believe he was Santa in the Umatilla Christmas parade for many years (his flowing white beard and warm demeanor were perfect of the job).  We will miss Harold at our gatherings.  He was one of those many quiet gentlemen that hold our community together.  It was my privilege to have known Harold.
